Capturing Photos that Speak to Me
Growing up in a small town on a family farm nestled at the base of the majestic mountains in the western United States, I developed a deep love for the outdoors. My days were spent working in the fields, and my free time was filled with camping or skiing, depending on the season.
My photography journey began in high school when I discovered my passion for capturing moments. I learned to develop my own prints in a makeshift darkroom (which was the bathroom with the lights out), primarily working in black and white from film in the days that you needed to take several photos of the same composition, hoping one would be amazing after developing. This hands-on experience ignited a lifelong love for photography.
Later, I found out that I am red-green colorblind. While I can see red and green, I struggle to distinguish them when they are combined with other colors. This has influenced my photography style, which tends to favor colors other than red and green, giving my work a unique touch that I embrace wholeheartedly. Unfortunately, those early photographs have been lost over the past 40 years.
As life went on, I rekindled my love for photography in the digital world, this time focusing on motorsports, particularly motorcycle racing on the pro circuit with our race team. Capturing the speed and excitement of the races brought a new dimension to my work.
Since then, my interests have broadened, and I now explore various types of photography that capture my attention. Each new subject and setting offer an opportunity to see the world through my lens in a different way.
I hope you enjoy my collection!
